What is Hydro-Jetting?

Hydro-Jetting is a method used by Commercial Plumbers to clean drains with extreme water pressure. Hydro jetting is different from snaking or other types of drain cleaning because it requires heavier equipment and should be performed by a professional. Hydro-jetting is usually needed for commercial facilities such as:

  • Restaurants
  • Hotels
  • Schools
  • Commercial Kitchens
  • Multi-tenant Housing
  • Office Building
  • Light Industrial

Hydro-Jetting relies on the use of high water pressure to clean your clogged drains. Hydro-jetting usually has a pressure that is between 1500 to 4000 pounds per minute.

The hydro jetting tool works because of two sets of water jets: The first jet on the hydro-jetting tool uses a high-pressure water stream to clean your pipes as it is pushed forward. The second set of jets are reverse water jets that propel the hydro jetting tool forward. These reverse water jets work along with the forward water stream to break up any of the obstructions in the drain pipes. There are usually 6 to 8 reverse water jets that work to break up the blockage in your drain. The forward and reverse water jets are what work to break up the blockages in your drain as the forward nozzle is pulled back against the rear water jets to create a force that will usually clear out the kind of grease, sand, or sediment that may have built up in your drains. This is also the kind of preventative measure that keeps your facilities sinks or dishwasher from backing up. No one likes drain water to back up on them from hand washing or dish washing drains. This kind downtime can be expensive to your operations. If you suspect that you have clogged pipes caused by something like grease, it is important to get a hydro-jetting job done by Service 1st Contractors.
